Virgin is the first UK mobile operator to sign up for BT’s Movio mobile TV service.
From October 1, Virgin customers that use the Lobster 700 (pictured) phone from HTC will be able to tune into digital radio channels and a few TV channels: BBC1, E4, ITV1 and Channel 4 – the latter’s TV will not be live to start with though.
The launch comes after BT’s 1,000-user trial but some people might want to ask where’s Sky and ITV2 – both of which were available for those trialling the service? The first three months will be free. After that, it will remain free for those spending £25 per month or more to Virgin or £5 per month for pay-as-you-go customers. The ergonomic Lobster 700 costs £199.
